Judith Windle Vincent, affectionately known as Judy, passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 85 in Albany, New York. Born on November 26, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Lucille Bergman Windle and Willis T. Windle. Judy was predeceased by her brother Bruce Alan Windle and sister Joanne Windle George.
Judy is survived by her ex-husband Gerald Vincent; her children, James (Denise) Vincent of Latham, NY, Norma Jeanne (Paul) Forkeutis of North Greenbush, NY, and Jeffrey Vincent of Chateaugay, NY; her sister and brother-in-law, Gail (David) Reynolds of Murrells Inlet, SC; and her brother-in-law David George of The Villages, FL. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Christian Vincent, Lindsey Forkeutis (fiancé Hayden Fahrenkopf) Nicholas Forkeutis, Jameson Vincent and step grandchild Bryana (Greg) Eves, as well as cherished memories with several exchange students, including Anja Doge (Benjamin) Kalluch, who remained close to her throughout the years.
Judy's career began in 1968 as a computer programmer with the State of New York. Later, she advanced her career in the private sector, eventually becoming a Senior Systems Programmer for several insurance companies. In 1990, she took on the role of Manager of Technology Systems at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany until 1998, when she joined MetLife. She worked there until her retirement in 2018. Judy was known for her selflessness, often prioritizing her staff's well-being over her own, even turning down salary increases to ensure they were compensated fairly.
Outside of her professional life, Judy was a passionate singer, joining the Sweet Adelines and later participating in the River Valley Chorus. Her love for music brought her joy and camaraderie, as she traveled extensively with her friends to competitions across the United States and Europe. She also shared a deep love for horseback riding with her family, particularly her granddaughter Lindsey, and cherished attending her grandchildren's sporting events and celebrating their achievements.
Judy's adventurous spirit was evident from a young age; as a freshman in high school, she was one of 16 Girl Scouts selected to sail on the brigantine Yankee, where she learned valuable skills in teamwork and navigation. Her determination and independence defined her character, making her a formidable force in all her endeavors.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Judy during her later years, particularly Rosa Sinche, who provided compassionate support and kindness, and the staff at Teresian House, especially Rachel and Debbie. Judy's legacy of love, strength, and selflessness will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
