Colonie- Judith E. Matteo, 87, who passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2026. Born in Lowville, NY she was the daughter of the late Lowell and Elizabeth Reed.
Judith Matteo lived a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and the many things that brought her joy especially a good book. She had a passion for politics and enjoyed staying engaged with the world around her. She loved the excitement of the casino, the beauty of the outdoors, and the freedom of being out on the water boating. Her favorite days were camping with her family. Most of all, Judith cherished a fun and active social life, surrounded by friends who brought laughter and wonderful memories to her life.
Judith had a remarkable way of embracing everyone she met. She welcomed people with an open heart and made those around her feel accepted, valued, and loved. She was someone who always put others first. A wonderful listener, Judith was the person people could turn to when they needed someone to talk to, a shoulder to lean on, or simply someone who would be there. She was always there for family and friends, offering her time, compassion, encouragement, and unconditional love.
Judith’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother whose children meant the world to her. She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, taking great happiness in watching her family grow and being part of their lives
Judith is survived by her two sons Joseph L. Matteo (Kari) and MarkR. Matteo ( Jenny). She was the loving grandmother to Brian, Kayla, Nicole, Marissa, Zachary and Nicholas. She was a great grandmother to Aletta, Raegan, Riley and Cooper.
Judith is predeceased by her sister Barbara.
