Judith Gregory passed on February 6, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Judy was born on January 23, 1945 to Julia and Henry Staats of Colonie, NY. Judy grew up in a house full of love that included her twin sister Joan (Henry) LaBrecque, her sister Kathy (Ken) Kennedy and brother Chuck (Carol) Staats who have all predeceased her. Her loving family also includes her sister Nancy (Wayne) Deyo and her brother John (Paula) Staats.
Judy found her soulmate in Bob. After many many years of hard work and saving they built her dream home in Delmar, NY. This home became the gathering place for family and friends, where afternoons were spent fishing, chasing George the Frog, paddle boating, and ice skating. The grandchildren also enjoyed the tree fort and playing yard games. Judy always made gatherings a special occasion.
Judy retired from NYS Taxation and Finance and never looked back.
In later years she followed the warmth South to Florida embracing a new chapter in her life. With this move she sat in the sunshine, enjoyed the ocean, joined the Red Hat Society, and made new friends in her community, including her dear friend Pat. Judy loved spending time with family at barbecues, swimming in the pool and being with her grandchildren at Don's.
During quiet times Judy enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading and crocheting. Judy was a skilled artist, creating many beautiful paintings. She found solace in this. Judy prided herself on staying current with the events of the day and the latest technology. She mastered games on her smartphone, sending the wordle to her group chat daily.
Judy chatted on the phone through many miles with Dan over the years as he drove across the country. Judy would follow along with maps on all our adventures.
Judy stayed connected to family and friends in the North and South through daily phone calls which she treasured. Judy had an adventurous soul, saw a lot of the United States on trips throughout her lifetime, and enjoyed going on cruises. She would never say no to an invitation. Judy also loved spending an afternoon at the casino. Three o'clock coffee and a sweet treat were a daily staple.
Judy was so loved! Judy was predeceased by her husband Robert Gregory and her son David Dunston. Judy leaves behind her children Sandra (Lewis) Ackert, Donald (Hilary) Dunston, Daniel Dunston and Darlene (Griff) Eddy. Judy was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 14th with services to follow at New Comer at 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
Friends and family are invited to join us at The Glenmont Abbey at 7 Thomas Cole Drive, Glenmont for coffee and sweets following the service until 3:00 PM.
