Albany-JoyAnn Pickett, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on February 16, 1950 in Albany, the daughter of the late Walter and Annetta Boyzer Pickett.
JoyAnn was a strong and independent women, starting her own house cleaning business, Maid in USA, evening earning herself the small business award. In the early 80's JoyAnn helped to start P.O.R.T., Parents of Runaway Teens. JoyAnn was a selfless woman who always put others first, whether it was family, homeless or anyone who needed a helping hand. She worked various other jobs including Cocca's Inn & Suites. One thing that JoyAnn will always be remembered for is her love for cooking, which led her to catering events. Most of all, JoyAnn was a loving mother, sister, grandmother & friend who will be sadly missed by all.
JoyAnn is survived by her children, John Shaw (Stephanie), Jeannette Kyea, Charles Mastan (Jennifer) and Tammy Chase (William); brothers, Dana Pickett (Susan), Larry Pickett, Kim Pickett (Sandy) and Geoff Pickett; 12 beloved grandchildren.
A memorial service for JoyAnn will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10am at City Harvest Family Church, 585 Central Ave, Albany, 12206. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
