Josephine Williams, 90, passed away peacefully with her 2 daughters by her side.

She was born in Bardstown, Kentucky, to the late Lettishie Newton and Thomas Simms.

Josephine was married to the late Roger E. Williams in 1955.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Stanley Simms, Donald Simms, Randal Simms, Anthony Simms and Bernadette Way.

Josephine is survived by her loving family; sister, Mary Moore and brother, Stephen Simms ( Cindy); daughters, Debra Swartz ( Larry), Jean Madia ( Sammy); grandchildren, Rebecca Swartz(Caroline Quinn), Jenna Swartz, Danielle Madia, Stephen Madia (Paula); great grandchildren, Olivia Goodman, Stephen Madia, Jr., Milani and Luciano Madia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.

Internment will be private at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.

Memorial contributions may be made in remembrance of Josephine to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, and/or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P. O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
