Joseph D. Pelton

Joseph Dame Pelton, 78, of Knox, New York, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026.

Born on January 11, 1948, in Albany, New York, he was the son of Charles and Patricia Pelton.

Known to many as "Joe" or affectionately as "Jody," he lived a full, vibrant, and meaningful life. He graduated from Maria College with a degree in computer programming and went on to build a long and dedicated career. Joe worked for many years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, serving as a manager at the New York State Service Center, and later retired from Albany Medical Center.

Joe had a deep love for life's simple joys. He was an avid runner and a devoted fan of the New York Giants and New York Yankees. He was known for his quick wit, playful spirit, and generous heart. Jody often joked that he was “The coolest guy that never was.” That was the joke of it and anyone who knew him can attest that his humor and personality made every gathering brighter.

Whether at formal events, annual camping trips, or family celebrations in Old Forge, his legendary "Jody jokes" were always part of the fun.

Above all else, Joe cherished his family. He lived a life grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those closest to him.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kimberly (Scott) Turner ; his son, Jason (Laura) Pelton ; his grandson, Jake Pelton; and his granddaughters, Morgan Nucci, Melanie Nucci, Luna Pelton, Gaia Pelton, and Enya Pelton. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, including siblings, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held Saturday April 11, 2026, calling hours 9:00 am -11:00 am. followed by celebration of life at 11:00am held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York, with a burial service to immediately follow.
