Niskayuna- Joseph P. Paniccia, 60, of Niskayuna NY passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 with his loving family by his side after a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Niskayuna on December 16th, 1955 to the late Albert Sr. and Sarah Dematteo Paniccia. Joseph was a graduate of the former Mont Pleasant High School class of 1974. After graduating high school, Joe served in the U.S. Army for 3 years; being stationed in Germany, and Kansas. In his younger years Joe worked for General Electric, before starting his career in the car business. He also worked for Shoprite Supermarkert and worked for the Gazette, delivering newspapers to the Niskayuna area for 8 years. He was a used car manager for the former Yankee Dodge, and he was also the owner and operator of J and G Wholesale - 'quality cars for wholesale prices'. Joe can be greatly remembered for his talented auction skills, he really put on a show.
Joseph will be forever missed by his loving wife of 32 years Sandra Johnson Paniccia; his son, Joshua Paniccia; his daughter, Gina Marie Paniccia; future daughter-in-law, Emily Lochner; and his furry companion Miss Molly. Joseph is also survived by his two brothers, Henry Paniccia of Charlton, Albert 'bert' Paniccia Jr. of Schenectady; his sister Marilyn Paniccia of Boston; father and mother-in-law, Nelson and Mary Johnson of Niskayuna; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents; Joseph is predeceased by his sister Patricia Nicosia; and his sister-in-law Mary Ann Paniccia.
In his free time Joey loved to travel, he enjoyed taking trips to the sunshine state annually with his wife during the holidays. He was a big fan of horseracing; attending the Saratoga racetrack frequently, and also attending the Kentucky derby with friends as well. However, his true hobby was his love for cars. Throughout his life he owned many different 'hot rods', and would take trips to enjoy annual car shows around the area. Family and friends could easily describe Joey as being a carefree person; he never let life's trials get the best of him, and still continued to stay extremely positive after he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. He was a loving father, devoted husband, loyal brother, and a trustworthy friend. He will be profoundly missed.
Josephs wife Sandra would like to give a special thanks to Joe's brother Bert and his sister Marilyn; the DeRise family, and close friends: Bambi 'the pink nurse' Almy, Jesus 'G' Ortiz, and Bill Dowlen, for their continuous help, support, kindness, and care of Joey and his family during the concluding months. The Paniccia family would also like to acknowledge and give thanks to all those who continued to keep Joey in their prayers.
Services for Joseph will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 9th at St. Kateri Parish; 1801 Union St, Niskayuna NY. Father Robert Longobucco will officiate.
