Fort Edward- Joseph C. Miller, 83, passed away Tuesday, Februray 13, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Joe was born on January 27, 1935 in Worcester, Mass. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Miller.

Joe graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Joe had many jobs as a contract Engineer. The most prestigious was with NASA where he designed part of the breathing apparatus for the suits the astronauts wore for their first trip to the moon. He was very proud of this and to have worked alongside the crew of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins.

He brought his family to Fort Edward, NY when he came to work for Kamyr. He built his home for his family and years later found himself having to work outside of the area. He worked for Alcoa in Massena, where his wife was born and raised and was able to enjoy extended family during his years there. When returning back to Fort Edward, He established Temploy, Inc. a temporary employment service, which he worked for 14 years until his retirement in 2000. He was bored and took part times positions as a security guard at The Hyde Collection and then later at the Glens Falls Civic Center, where he ran the "coffee room". He became famous for "Joe's coffee and snacks". He always made sure people were happy when they left his little cafe'.

Joe was a long term Mason and a member of the Shriners. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed "putzing" around and always had a joke to share. He was a wizard in the kitchen and always had something good in the oven. You never left the table hungry!

Joe married Sally Kaloustian on 1/31/59. They had 59 years together.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his daughter, Honey Miller-MacEwan, son, John S. Miller and his only grandson, Salvatore MacEwan. He is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rod and Sandy Macleod and several nieces, nephews and friends.
