Joseph S. Ippolito

Joseph Steven Ippolito, 60, of Voorheesville, New York, passed away on September 6, 2026.

Joe was born on November 29, 1965, in Liberty, New York, the son of the late Steven and Ethel (DeFilippi) Ippolito. He grew up in Liberty and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta and his Master of Social Work from the University at Albany.

Joe devoted his professional life to helping others as a social worker. Over the course of his career, he worked in a variety of settings, including Ellis Hospital and Samaritan Hospital, as a contractor with the United States Navy, and with Community Hospice. His work was a source of great pride to him, and his years with Community Hospice held a particularly special place in his heart. His quiet compassion and generosity were qualities that served him well both in his work and throughout his life.

On October 10, 1998, Joe married Kirsten (Steinfeldt) Ippolito. Together they made their home in Voorheesville and raised their two sons, Nicholas and Andrew. Above all else, Joe was proud of his family and the life they built together.

Joe was a quiet and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor. He had a curious mind and particularly enjoyed learning about history and religion. A lifelong baseball fan, Joe loved the New York Yankees. He also had a great affection for animals, especially the family pets, and found simple pleasure in watching the birds gather at the feeder outside his home.

Joe’s Catholic faith was an important part of his life, and he was a parishioner of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Voorheesville.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kirsten; his sons, Nicholas and Andrew Ippolito; his sisters, Kathrin Ippolito and Mary (Michael) Winston; and his nephews, Brian Carchedi (Andrew Miller) and Adam Carchedi. He is also survived by his mother- and father-in-law, Barbara and Richard Steinfeldt; his brother- and sister-in-law, Kurt and Elizabeth Steinfeldt; and his nephew, David Steinfeldt.

He was predeceased by his parents, Steven and Ethel Ippolito.

Joe will be laid to rest beside his parents at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Liberty, New York, in a private family ceremony.
