Joseph G. Faranda, 87, of Glenville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 14, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in Fitchberg, MA to the late Guiseppe and Mary (Gullo) Faranda, and raised in the Albany area.
He enjoyed spending time with his entire family where his smile would light up the room when he was with them.
He worked for many years in the Rensselaer and Castleton areas, but was best known for his ability to build or fix anything. He was avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors.
Joe is survived by his children; Janice M. Dedrick, Joseph F. Faranda, Jeanne M. (the late Marshall) Lundgren, James A. (Claire) Faranda, Phillip J. (Beth) Faranda, Brian R. (Jamie) Faranda, Joanne M. (Jose) George, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and two sisters; Grace Caukins and Jensie Hoffman. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his two brothers Phillip and John Faranda and sister Connie Cramer.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Wednesday May 17, 2017 from 4-7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 18, at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110
Interment will follow the service at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
