John T. Johnson

GLENMONT - John T Johnson, 89, of Albany NY, transitioned peacefully on December 15,2025 surrounded by loved ones.

John was born on December 10, 1936 to late John T. Johnson, Sr. & Maggie Pride. John proudly served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge before retiring from NY State Compensation Board.

John enjoyed cooking, baking especially, watching old westerns in his favorite recliner chair and spending time spoiling his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Johnson; a great great grandson: Ami S. Taylor; brother-in law, Matthew Coleman (June Coleman (wife) still living); sister and brother in law Joan Bickley (George Bickley); sister in Law, Edith Dixson; brother in law, Charles Coleman; brother in law, Joseph Coleman, brother in law, Robert Coleman (Sandra Coleman (wife) still living)

John is survived by his five children, Daniel Johnson (Brenda Johnson) of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew Johnson, Georgette Johnson, Varnell Johnson and Robin Johnson all of Albany, NY; two grandchildren, Lasonya Miller of Albany, NY and Michelle Miller of Charlotte NC and three great grandchildren, Qmarion Berg and Qumanii Berg both of Albany, NY. and Seven Kornegay of Charlotte NC. as well as his long-time childhood friend, Harry Neely and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 11:30 am on Monday, December 22, 2025 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.

Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens.
