John G. Ploof, Sr.

Cambridge- John G. Ploof, Sr., 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. He was the son of the late Henry and Shirley Ploof. John was the devoted husband to the late Ella A. Ploof.

John was born in Troy, New York and raised in Cambridge, New York.

John enjoyed spending time with his entire family and all his friends. He loved hosting and getting everyone together. Most of all he cherished every moment he got to spend with Ella and their precious puppy, Nipper.

John always knew how to make you smile and laugh.

John will always be remembered for how selfless he was to all those he loved. He always thought of everyone else before himself and went out of his way to help others.

John is survived by his siblings, Henry L. Ploof, David Ploof, Helen H. Atkins, Dawn Bakerian, and Richard Ploof; niece, Lauren M. Ploof, Lisa Volkman Cindy Phillips, and Dana Sousis; nephews, Henry Ploof, Matt Ploof, Chad Ploof, Joe Ploof, James Travis, and Kenny Travis; beloved fur baby, Nipper; and many friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, John is predeceased by his one and only child John G. Ploof, Jr; and his brother, Daniel Ploof.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, New York 12189 on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10am to 11am with a funeral service to begin at 11am. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy, New York.
