In Loving Memory of John E. Green Jr. December 6, 1954 – July 12, 2026

John E. Green Jr., 71, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2026. Born in Mississippi, he was raised in Detroit, Michigan, and later moved to Albany, New York, at the age of 17. He retired from the City of Albany after many years of dedicated service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and pride in a job well done.

The third of seven children and the only son of John E. Green Sr. and Alberta Green, John was lovingly known as “Bruh,” a nickname that stayed with him throughout his life and reflected the special place he held in his family’s heart.
John was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, steady presence, generous heart, and the deep love he carried for his family. Those who knew him best will always remember the comfort of his words, the strength of his character, and the way he made others feel valued and cared for.
John found joy in hunting and enjoyed playing cards. He was truly a jack of all trades. If something was broken, he could fix it. If something needed to be built, he could build it. There was rarely a project he wouldn’t take on, and he took great pride in working with his hands. His knowledge, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others were gifts that his family and friends will always remember. He was always there to help his family in any way he could. Family meant everything to him.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Green; his daughter, Katherine “Kathy” Green; his parents, John E. Green Sr. and Alberta Green; and his sisters, Gay Green and Barbara Green.

He is survived by his children: John E. Green (Dorothy Green), McKinley “Mac” Fredericks, Tommie Green, William Fredericks, Alberta Green, Maxine Fredericks, Theresa Green (Dwayne Murdock), Joey Fredericks, and Joshua Green. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Green, Nancy Green, Kay Green, and Joyce Green. John leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

His legacy of love, devotion, and family togetherness will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
