Nassau — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Frank Campione, age 70, who died peacefully at home on Monday, December 22, 2025, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
John was born on July 8, 1955, to John and Laura Campione, both of whom predeceased him. He was a man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Often larger than life, John possessed a vibrant personality and an unmistakable presence, yet above all else, he deeply loved and cherished his family. If you knew John Campione, chances are your life was touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit.
After serving in the United States Army, John began working alongside his father in the family construction business around the age of 20. He remained in the trade for three decades until the age of 50, when he boldly pursued a new passion—technology. Embracing the ever-changing world of computers, John reinvented himself as an IT service provider, a role he found both challenging and rewarding. He was also a member and finally the President of the Griffins NY chapter for many of those years.
In his free time, John enjoyed attending festivals and craft shows and staying connected online with friends and family. His most treasured role in life, however, was being “PopPop” to his grandchildren. He adored them beyond measure, and his loss leaves an immeasurable void in their lives.
John is survived by his long-term companion, Deb Drake; his daughter, Jennifer Campione Murray (Benjamin); his grandchildren, Tiffany Lind (Christopher Chase) and Joshua Murray; his sister, Deb Campione Walter (John); his nephews, John Walter and Matthew Walter; as well as several beloved cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson, Mikey Lind, and his nephew, Evan Stein.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a remembrance service at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205.
Interment immediately in St. Agnes Cemetery, located at 48 Cemetery Avenue, Albany, NY 12204.
