Albany- John “Bill” Morgan, 83 of Albany, N.Y., died May 6, 2025. Bill was born April 12,1942 in Albany to the late Ernest “Spike” Morgan and Helen (Sokol) Morgan.
He graduated from CBA, class of 1960, where he excelled as a member of the school rifle team. Bill, a firearms enthusiast, remained an expert marksman throughout his life. He worked for NYS departments of Taxation & Finance and Social Services. After 45 years, Bill retired early and went on to enjoy a life of travel and adventure. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling coast to coast and boarder to boarder across the country, and to all the lower 48 states. He also enjoyed traveling outside the country, including England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and South Africa. Frequently accompanying Bill on these trips, riding her own motorcycle, was his partner Louise. Bill also loved the outdoors: camping, boating, hiking, hunting, and fishing throughout the state of New York with his beloved son Dan. He enjoyed sports, especially auto and motorcycle racing. For many years, riding with his son and friends, he would travel to Laconia, New Hampshire, and Daytona Speedway to enjoy the races. A more frustrating enjoyment for Bill was following the Giants’ football games. He was a Ham Radio operator and spent many hours speaking with people from all around the world. As a history buff all his life, he was a voracious reader and developed a deep knowledge of many subjects such as the Civil War, the world wars, archeology, and trains. And over the years, he developed into the family chef for holiday dinners and the regular Wednesday night family dinners.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Karen Havnen Morgan and daughter Kristine Haines.
He is survived by his partner of 40 years, Louise Kuziomko, son Daniel Morgan, sister Jan M. Morgan and a host of longtime friends.
