Joan Marie Sedgwick

COLONIE- Joan Marie Sedgwick (Leiphart), 88, passed away after a brief illness at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Joan was born December 7, 1937 in Albany, NY. Joan was the daughter of the late George E. Leiphart and Bertha Chesbro Leiphart.

Joan was a lifelong resident of Colonie. She worked for over 40 years as a Dietary Aide at the Teresian House in Albany until her retirement.

Joan was the wife of the late George (Moe) Sedgwick. She is survived by her sons: Brian (Kathy), Charles “Fred” and Al (Clare); her beloved grandchildren: Collin (Elizabeth), Aaron (Mary), Derek (Ashley); great grandchildren: Adaline, Onaleigh, and a baby girl due in May; sister in law, Dawn Ottis and daughters: Donna and Linda and good friend, Sister Jo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service Friday June 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Troy Schenectady Road, Niskayuna, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Joan Sedgwick.
