Joan Renner

COLONIE - Joan Renner, age 73, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at the Community Hospice lnn at St. Peter's Hospital.

Joan was born on September 9, 1952 in Albany, NY to Theresa Lang Renner and Charles W Renner.

Joan graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School in 1971 in Albany, NY.

She worked many years at NYS Tax & Finance where she gained many lifelong friends. She was an avid artist who enjoyed drawing, painting, coloring and many other artistic hobbies. She especially loved to spend time with her family and was known for remembering everything that ever happened and all family members enjoyed her story telling, in awe of her memories.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Theresa A and Charles W, and her brothers Charles J and Robert H.

Joan is survived by her sisters Marilyn Moran and Betty DeThomasis. Joan was a favorite Aunt of many and doted on all of her nieces and nephews, especially, Linda Hoff, Michelle (John) Collins, Joseph (Dolores) DeThomasis and James DeThomasis. She was THE BEST Great Aunt to Ashley Collins and Matthew (Maggle) Collins, Nicholas and Zachary DeThomasis and Felina and Vincent DeThomasis. Her passing will leave a great void in many, many lives.

The family would like to thank her numerous friends for supporting her, sharing memories and keeping her smiling during her brief illness and hospital stays. She was eternally grateful for every one of you, some being friends from her school days. The family would also like to thank the Community Hospice Inn for their dedicated and loving care. Joan expressed how much she loved it there and how grateful she was for the pampering she received and she felt like a Queen.

Memorial Service Details Services and burial will be held privately by the family at a later date.
