Schenectady- Joan M. Norton, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born in New York City on November 2, 1935 to the late James and Veronica Reilly.
Joan worked as a court officer for the Schenectady County Court for 15 years. She then went on to be a crossing guard in Schenectady.
Joan was predeceased by her siblings, William Reilly, Jack Reilly, Robert Reilly, Edward Reilly, and Gertrude Doyle.
She is survived by her beloved husband Bob Norton. She is also survived by her children, Buel Palmer III, Veronica Chase, and Sandra Oswald; five grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Faith Norton; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her pride and joy and canine companion Dexter.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 8:30am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Animal Shelter.
