Joan M. Messemer
March 16, 1945 — May 2, 2017
Troy- Joan M. Messemer (Rock), 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Beverly Coval.
Joan was a devoted and dedicated caregiver for special needs children for many years at the Pinewoods Center. She then finished her working career at Eckerd in Brunswick. Joan was dedicated to her family and friends.
She is survived by Richard H. Messemer and their children, Richard Messemer (Melissa), Penny Zekanovich (Goran), Brenda Messemer, Randy Messemer (Ellen) & Scott Messemer (Sydney). In addition to her children Joan is survived by her twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters Jane & Fran and her brothers Johnny & Floyd and predeceased by her brother Billy.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A memorial service will follow the calling hours starting at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.StJude.org, in Joan's name.
