Jo Ann Coones

Waterford--- Jo Ann Coones (Laniewski), age 73, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018 at Wesley Health Center.

She was the daughter of the late Edward and Thelma Laniewski. She grew up in Schenectady with her sister, Linda and brother, Joe.

Jo Ann and her late husband, Francis (Danny) Coones were residents of Waterford, where she attended St. Mary's Church.

She was an employee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield, until she retired.

Jo Ann is survived by her brother, Joe (Jeana) Laniewski; her brother in law and sister in law, Jack and Carol Houle; her nieces: Kimberly Scott, Kelly Laniewski, Debra Bruns, and Nancy Sawin; and nephew, Scott Houle; along with several grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Linda Orzolek and her nephew, Adam Orzolek.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet on Thursday, March 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m.. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.

As she was a lover of animals, memorial contributions may be made in Jo Ann's memory to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
