Jean McMurphy, (Bobcia), 93, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at Glendale Nursing Home, where she spent her final days surrounded by care and compassion.
Born in Schenectady February 23, 1932, she was the proud daughter of John and Genevieve “Jean” (Moraski) Listkowski, who held a special place in her heart.
She was raised in Schenectady, NY, Jean was the beloved wife of the late Ellsworth Edward McMurphy. She was a proud graduate of Mont Pleasant High School class of 1951. Throughout her life, Jean worked a variety of jobs before finding her true calling with the Visiting Nurses, where she dedicated herself to providing loving, in-home care to those in need.
Jean was active in her community, volunteering her time with the Women’s Auxiliary. In her spare time, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life — spending time with her family, taking trips to the casino, playing her daily numbers, reading, and watching westerns.
She is survived by her sons, Edward McMurphy of Rotterdam, NY, and John McMurphy of Cobleskill, NY; her granddaughters, Lisa McMurphy of the Town of Florida, NY, Melissa McMurphy of Oberlin, OH, and Elizabeth McMurphy of Rotterdam, NY; and her grandson, Steven McMurphy of Rotterdam, NY.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday October 23rd at 12pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany.
The family is gathering after the services at her granddaughter Lisa's house.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s name to the Glendale Nursing Home Activities Department, in appreciation for the kindness and support they provided during her time there.
