Jean D. Koehler, 99, wife of the late Robert F. Koehler of Albany, New York, passed away peacefully July 26, 2026, at the Eddy Geriatric Center.
Born July 27, 1926, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Diamante DeMizio of Albany, New York.
Jean attended Albany High School. Jeans first job out of school was the Albany times Union and then on to a long career with New York State.
Jean interests included Bus trips with the Joseph E. Zaloga Post and also travelling by train to the Midwest. Jean was also a member of the Jospeh E. Zaloga Post #1520 women’s auxiliary. She also enjoyed bingo, her trips to the casino and her bowling league. Her favorite pastime was spending quality time with her family. She loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family and their picnics at Colonie Town Park And never passed up an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, Jean was predeceased by her son, Keith Koehler; brother, Alfred DeMizio (Marianne); and sisters, Ardenia Simmons (Pat) and Lucy Pizzemento (Joe).
Jean survived by sons Francis Koehler, Albany, NY, Stephen Koehler (Diane), Latham, NY, Robert Koehler, Jr., Colonie, NY and daughter Kathleen Dominick (Mark) North Carolina. Jean is also predeceased by her parents Francis & Diamante DeMizio and survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a memorial service to immediately follow, on Friday, July 31, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Road, Menands, NY 12204.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses, aides and staff at the Eddy Geriatric Center for the care they have given to Jean over the years.
