Janith D. Roemer (Wagner), 90, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025.
She was born on January 18, 1935, in Albany, New York, to the late Elmer George Wagner and Catherine Gloecker.
Janith was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. All who knew her called her grandma. A graduate of Albany High school, she held many jobs, most recently with Walmart, from which she retired. In retirement, she devoted her time to her family.
“Grandma” was eternally inquisitive and had a uniquely intuitive nature. She was always up for a good time. She loved the casinos and boating on Lake George. She often wore an orchid in her hair, frequently applied lipstick, and followed fashion trends. She would tell you to “behave”, with a wicked smile and a laugh, which her granddaughter, Sara, knew meant “don’t do what I do … or do - it is up to you.” She had quite a crush on Steve Harvey from Family Feud and no one would be permitted to change the channel.
In addition to her parents, Janith was predeceased her husband, Walter Roemer, Sr. They met in 1952, as neighbors, and married in 1955. They shared decades of memories and love before he passed. She is also predeceased by her devoted daughter-in-law, Patricia Roemer.
Janith is survived by her son, Walter Roemer (Patricia); grandchildren, Chad Roemer and Sara Aleschus (Alan).
Her family will remember her for her quick wit, stories of her adventures, her iconic look, and her genuine kindness.
Services will be private. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
