Janice C. Turso

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janice C. Turso, aged 82 in Rotterdam, NY on March 3, 2025.

Jan was born on July 18, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN to James N. and Georgia Cox. She graduated from Chattanooga High School and joined the US Air Force, where she met William E. Turso, whom she married in 1962.

She was a Paralegal for Prisoner’s Legal Services of New York for more than 40 years. She had a series of beloved cats and was a firm believer in God. She enjoyed watching old westerns and debating politics with her family.

Jan was the mother of 4 children, son William Jr (Donna), daughter Christina (Eric Strader), and sons Matthew (Penny) and Andrew (Janise). She has 15 Grand and Step-Grandchildren (David, Sean, Christian, Juliana, Nico, Drew, Alexandria, Vincent, Christopher, Nicolas, Elijiah, Brayden, Ezekiel, William, and Anna) and 3 Great and Step Great-Grandchildren (Brysen, Hadley, and Addilyn).

She was pre-deceased by her Grandson Nico and is survived by her children and sister, Judith Agaoglu, living in Ringgold, GA.

The family will have a private service to scatter her ashes in a place she loved.
