Janice M. Halloran, 88, the wife of John M. Halloran, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10th, at her home with her loving family at The Eddy in Troy, NY. She was born on January 20, 1938, in Troy, NY, Jan was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Brennan) Manning.
Janice met the love of her life, John, at a school dance at Saint Rose. They were married for 67 years. Janice was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend who found great joy in caring for those she loved. Her infectious smile and loving nature drew people to her. Her love of music and dancing with John was ever-present throughout her life.
Janice was a mother like no other, with a loving and supportive way about her. She cherished holidays spent with family and always believed that the more, the merrier.
Janice is survived by her son Timothy Halloran of Troy, NY; Joan Halloran Nelson of East Greenbush, NY; Joseph and Barbara Halloran of Troy, NY; and Michael and Michelle Halloran of Schodack, NY. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie Halloran of Newton, MA.
Janice loved seeing her 10 grandchildren grow. These included Jake, Jesse, and Jordan Nelson (Joan & Jonathan); Sasha and Kiernan Wajsfelner (Laurie & Alex); Aiden, Brennan, and Charlie Halloran (Joe & Barbara); Brendan and Morgan Halloran (Michael and Michelle).
Janice received her B.S. from Saint Rose College and M.S. from Russell Sage College. She had been a member of Troy, AOH, enjoying her Irish heritage. She was also a member of the Capitaland Chorus, where she performed in numerous national and international competitions. After retiring, Janice and John enjoyed their snowbird lifestyle, spending winters in Stuart, FL., and summers at their beloved “Camp No Deer” at Schroon Lake.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home in Latham. A Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy.
