Janet M. Hirt

Albany - Janet Mary Hirt, 93, of Albany NY and Vero Beach FL passed peacefully September 13, 2024.

Janet is the daughter of the late Catherine Moran and was raised by her mother and beloved aunt and uncles, the late Margaret, Thomas, and Bernard Moran.

Janet is predeceased by her husband, Edward E. Hirt and her son, Joseph Covey.

Janet was a bookbinder for Boyd’s printing. Janet and Ed also owned Eddies on the Avenue in Albany, a friendly neighborhood bar where she made many wonderful lifelong friends. Janet and Ed relocated to Florida after retirement and enjoyed many years of friends, cruises, new adventures, and a wonderful life in the sun.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Cathleen Owens; son, Richard Covey; amazing daughter-in-law, Karen Covey; loving step-children, Deborah Hirt, Claudia Toffel, Edward “Ned” (Judy) Hirt, and Matthew Hirt; and grandchildren, Frank (Barbara), Jason, and Shawn (Colleen) Owens, and Justin, Matthew, and Anna Hirt, and Ryan Toffel. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and favorite nephew, Joseph Vecchio.
