Jan E. Smith age 69, of Albany, New York passed away October 17, 2015 at her home.
Jan was born August 20, 1946, in Flushing, New York, the daughter of the late George and Alice Smith.
Jan attended school in Flushing. After graduation she began working as a Nurse's Aid. She was a caring person, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a jokester who enjoyed making people laugh. She loved being with her family and friends and helping others. She loved movies, her plants, and collecting teddy bears.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Scott Chestnut; and her sister, Denise Robinson.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Chestnut, Adam (Sue) Chestnut, Matthew Chestnut, and Alfia Chestnut; granchildren, Janita, Tayvon, Marcus, Pershon, Tyasia, Joshua, and Shiheed; great-grandchildren, Najjiya and Cason; nieces, Shannon and Shawnette; cousin Seth; and many aunts and uncles, especially Aunt Marlene.
In keeping with Jan's wishes there will be no services or visitation.
