James F. Simmons Jr.

James "Jim" F. Simmons Jr., 86, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Albany, New York.

Born on October 14, 1939, in Latham, New York, he was raised in a loving household by his parents, James and Catherine Simmons.

He proudly served his country as an Army veteran from 1963 to 1965, a commitment that marked a significant chapter in his life.

Jim shared a loving 62-year marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia G. Simmons. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and memories that will be treasured by all who knew them. Jim is survived by two sons, James (Nancy) Simmons III and Jason (Shawna) Simmons, who will carry on his spirit and values.

He was a cherished brother to Ted (Marie) Simmons. As well as a grandfather to: Alex Vrigian, Marc Vrigian, Jessica (Andy) Lubas, and Amanda Simmons, who brought light to his life.

He was also a proud great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren and enjoyed every moment spent with them. In addition, Jim is remembered by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Shinski.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. M. Hussain and the medical team at NYOH and Albany Medical Center for their exceptional care, compassion, and dedication during Jim’s final days. Your kindness brought comfort to both him and our family.
