James Morris Kamara, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at 8:15 a.m. in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born in Monrovia, Liberia, James lived a full and vibrant life marked by intelligence, determination, warmth, and an unwavering love for family and friends.

James was an extremely well-educated and accomplished man who worked as a chemist for the State of New York, a career that reflected his sharp intellect, discipline, and commitment to excellence. He always knew what he wanted and pursued his goals fearlessly, living by his often-repeated saying, “Time waits for no one.” He truly embraced life and made certain to live it to the fullest.

In April of 2012, James suffered a life-altering stroke that initially left him paralyzed. True to his nature, he refused to be defined by this challenge. Through extraordinary strength, determination, and perseverance, he worked tirelessly to rehabilitate himself physically and emotionally demonstrating resilience that inspired everyone around him. Even in the face of adversity, our Dad was a powerhouse.

A devoted Episcopalian, James carried his faith with quiet strength and dignity. He was known for his lively and charismatic personality, balanced by a deeply personal nature. Those fortunate enough to call him a friend knew they had a friend for life. He was kind, intelligent, engaging, and deeply loved. His warm, unforgettable smile and energetic eyes left a lasting impression on everyone he met, when you met James, you fell in love with him.

James had a lifelong passion for tennis and was both an avid player and devoted fan of the sport. He also enjoyed playing golf and was a loyal supporter of the New York Giants, New York Knicks and sports in general. His enthusiasm for sports mirrored his enthusiasm for life.

He is survived by his loving children: Zoe Fatu Kamara Dzineku and her husband Michael Dzineku, and his granddaughters Georgia Bendu Arthur and Chloé-Elizabeth Arthur; daughter Hawah Jatu Kamara; daughter Sanghai Musu Kamara; and son Sevelee Kamara, his granddaughter Jerrita Broughton and his grandsons James Kamara Jr. and Wellington Kamara. He is survived by plethora of brothers and sisters and friends who he also considered close family. He was loved by many.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Zoe Kamara and Sevelee Kamara.
