Coshun, James L, Jr., aka Jimmy or “7 Junior” to his family, joined the love of his life, Gail Sears Coshun, on 7/11/26 after a brief illness. Jimmy was the 2nd of the “5 ‘Shuns” of Third Street in Albany.
Born to James L. Coshun, Sr. (the original “7”) and Lorraine J. Coshun (Liz) both deceased. He leaves two daughters, Nicole (Steve) Tallmadge of Latham, NY and Jennifer (Kelly) Herbs of Hawaii; three grandchildren, Mitchell Doyle, Ashley Herbs and Miles Doyle, and three great-granddaughters whom he adored.
“And then there were 4 ‘Shuns,” Myke (Debbie) Coshun of Gainesville FL; Nancy Coshun Grace of Albany, NY; Loral Coshun Hull of Albany, NY; and Lynne Coshun Rizzo (Mario) of Guilderland NY.
Jim spent quite a few years playing bass guitar in local bands: Axis, Head First, and Velvet Touch, aka The Godfathers. Jimmy always had a love of music, either playing it or listening to it. Above all else, he loved his family the most. He was a man deeply committed to his family’s well being and happiness. Jim worked for many years as a Regional Sales Manager for NAPA Autoparts and later worked for the NYS Department of Civil Service. He retired in 2015 partly to spend as much time as he could with the love of his life Gail before her passing in 2016. “I want to be with Gail” was often expressed and after ten long years without her, his wishes came true and they are reunited. He will be sorely missed by all.
Jimmy requested no formal services, however, he wanted a celebration of his life which will be held Friday, July 17, 2026 from 4PM until 9PM, so please join the family at Lynn’s Uptown Tavern, 15 Colvin Avenue, Albany, NY. In Jim’s memory, buy a brother a beer or a shot of fireball.
