Colonie-It is with heavy hearts, we share the news of Jack William Dunn’s passing on Friday December 26th, 2025. He was born on December 8th,1946 and is now reunited with his wife Lynn Dunn, his mother Mary Dunn, and his brothers Michael Dunn and Robert Dunn.
Jack’s first job was working on Ten Broeck Farm picking crops for 50 cents an hour. While attending Albany High School he held a part-time job washing dishes, baking, and cooking, and then became assistant manager at Saint Rose College. After graduating from Albany High School he went into the Army. While serving his country he oversaw Inventory, MP/guard duty and was a distribution specialist to name a few. While in the Army he married the love of his life, his late wife Lynn Dunn, and had four beautiful children. He then started his career at the United States Postal Service where he later retired after working his way up to head supervisor.
He enjoyed his get togethers every Sunday in the backyard, spending time with his kids, grandkids and being surrounded by family. Jack was an avid hunter and fisher. He would jump at any chance to spend time with his children. He enjoyed making cakes for all the birthdays and cookies and fudge for Christmas. If there was a chance to spoil you or show you how special you were Jack was there.
Jack is survived by his four children, Mary & Andrew Clancy, of Latham, Jeffery & Carol Dunn, of Colonie, Joseph & Laura Dunn, of Loudonville and James & Stephanie Dunn, of Colonie, his grandchildren Theresa & Fish, Jeffrey, Joshua, Sabastian, Amy, Julia Ann, Jessica, Alexandra and Hailey; also, his great-grandchild Daniel. Pa always had a smile on his face when they were around. He is also survived by his siblings, Patrick & Maude Dunn, Sharron & Robert Bucci, Deanna & the late Jesse Taber, Christina & Dan Smith, Mary & Jack Kent, and half sister Cassey Doppelheuer, along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4pm-7pm., Friday, January 2nd 2026, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie N.Y. 12205. Funeral services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be held on Monday January 5th at Memory Gardens.
