Irene C. Bulatao

November 26, 1939 — August 9, 2025

Loudonville

Irene Cecile (Langlais) Bulatao, 85, peacefully left the earthly realm on August 9, 2025.

Born and raised in Corinth, NY, Irene led a life of love, compassion, and adventure. She was a warm, friendly woman who spent more than 63 years deeply in love with her “Ang[el]”, Isidro. She raised her four children with patience and kindness and encouraged them to find livelihoods that honored their passions and skills. Called Memere by family and many younger friends, she doted on her grandchildren and cheered them on at games, meets, theatrical performances, and musical gigs. Every gathering that Irene organized was filled with her delicious food and bright laughter.

Irene radiated compassion while working as a registered nurse and volunteering as an EMT for the Town of Colonie and at Century Same Day Surgery where she cared for babies. She enhanced children’s lives by teaching religion at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and serving on the PTA and as a room mother for many years at Boght Hills School. When family members and friends faced health challenges, she swooped in and cared for them with skill and tenderness.

As an adventurous new mother, Irene moved to Sid's homeland in the Philippines, and they lived there for two years. After they returned to the U.S. and settled in Latham, NY, they often celebrated Christmas in the Philippines. Irene enjoyed packing for her travels throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed cooking, home decorating, relaxing at her Adirondack lakehouse, yoga, dancing with Sid and in Nia classes, and constantly winning homemade costume contests.

Irene is survived by her loving husband, Isidro; her children Laura Bulatao (and Matthew Alpern), Sharon Summer (and John De Fiore), Keith (and Anne) Bulatao, and Linda Martone (and John McCabe); her grandchildren Jared (and Ana) Alpern, Samahria Alpern, Amanda Sumner (and Robert Watson), Melody (and Alex) Heart, Brittany Sumner, Lyndsay Sumner (and Mairead Whitford Jones), Sydney Bulatao, Garrett Bulatao, Willow Ryan, and Kateri Ryan; and her sisters Paulette (and Dennis) Ryan, Jeannine (and Matt) Grumo, and Rose-Marie Akers.

She was predeceased by her parents Lucie and Paul Langlais and her siblings Therese Langlais and Gerard Langlais.

A calling hour will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. in Latham, NY on August 14 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a mass at 10:00. Her burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery at 79 St. Agnes Highway, Cohoes NY.

The family is eternally grateful for the exceptional care that Barbara Simmons, Christina Chapin, Danielle Braelfort, Jackie Moyer, Madison Moyer, Sherri Rulison, and Trudy Johnson gave Irene during her final months. You are all angels with well-hidden wings. Thank you for treating Irene with the same tender compassion and magnificent love that she exuded all through her life.
