Listen to Obituary

Howard C. Williams, 68, of Albany, NY, formerly of Nyack, NY, passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Howard’s passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving behind a tremendous sense of loss for the many people who loved him.

Born and raised in Nyack, NY, Howard spent his life making an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, and, to many, simply their favorite “Howie.”

He proudly served his country in the U.S Navy. Howard worked as a truck driver for Rist Transport. He was a hardworking, generous man who was always willing to lend a hand. Whenever someone needed help, Howard was there. He never hesitated to do whatever he could for the people around him.

He was funny, loving, and, without a doubt, a chatty Cathy. Howard had a personality that was impossible to miss. He was affectionately known by many as their “favorite asshole”—a title that reflected his quick wit, his sense of humor, and the way he could give you a hard time while making you laugh at the same time.

Above all, Howard loved his wife, Rosemary, with everything he had. He and Rosemary shared a deep and loving bond. In recent years, Howard made his home with Rosemary and his stepdaughter, Danielle Marion. Together, they cared for Rosemary through the challenges of dementia. Howard was a devoted husband and was always there for his family.

Howard had many passions. NASCAR was his all-time favorite sport, and he was a devoted Miami Dolphins fan. He also adored his beloved dog, Minnie. He loved spending time with family, talking with friends and neighbors, and bringing people together.

Howard was famous for his incredible Fourth of July parties, where family, friends, neighbors, and community members gathered to eat, laugh, talk, and make memories. He had a way of making people feel welcome and turning ordinary moments into memories that would last a lifetime.

He even created a culinary tradition of his own: “Howie Stackers,” his signature pickles sliced flat and thin, perfect for putting on a burger. For those who knew and loved Howard, a burger just wasn't quite the same without them.

Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary; his daughter, Bonnie Jean Williams, whom he loved dearly; his stepdaughter, Danielle Marion; his grandson, Joshua Sanders; his sisters, Tabitha Adams and Daphne Hardy; his brother, Ray Williams; his sisters-in-law, Tina Beauparlant and Kathy Ortgies; his brother-in-law, Ron Beauparlant; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, neighbors, and community members who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard Williams and Jeannette Williams, and his stepfather, Wes Hardy.

Howard leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, traditions, friendships, and love. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his unmistakable sense of humor, his devotion to Rosemary, his love for his family, and the countless ways he showed up for the people he cared about.

He was one of a kind, deeply loved, and impossible to forget.

There will never be another Howie.

Rest easy, Howie. You were loved more than you probably ever realized, and you will be missed more than words can say.
