Howard Irving Brown, 84, of St. Albans, VT, formerly of Knox, NY, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025 at Franklin County Rehab Center, surrounded by family. A dedicated father, proud grandfather, and active community member, Howard lived a life marked by service, humor, and love for his family.
Born on May 11, 1941, in Oneida, NY, Howard built a legacy both professionally and personally. He spent his career in construction and management, where he earned the respect and admiration from his peers. He was a Past President of the Schenectady Builders Association and an active member of both the Eastern Contractors Association and Saratoga Builders Association.
A devoted Mason, Howard was a member of the Berne Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Schenectady, and a 31st Degree Mason in the Oriental Chapter of Troy.
He served 4 years on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, including time as Chairman. He also contributed his leadership skills as Vice Chairman of the Amsterdam Housing Authority and served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Howard was known for his quick wit and endless repertoire of dad jokes. He loved spirited conversations about politics and world events. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars, often attending car shows where he’d share vivid stories from the past.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and his 5 beloved grandchildren, passing down stories, laughter, and love.
Howard is survived by his son, David Brown, and his wife Sarah; his daughter, Erinn Larkin, and her husband David; his grandchildren, Christian, Collin, Gabriel, Eliza, and Colton; and his former wife, Diana Brown.
