Hildegard L. Becker

Hildegard L. Becker, age 87, passed away on February 14, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Born on March 9, 1930, in Fritzlar, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Teresa Draude.
She is also predeceased by her husband, August, her brothers, Franz, Alwin and Edmund Draude and sister, Irmgard Kolh.

Hildegard attended school in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1951. She was an accomplished bookbinder, retiring from Boyd Printing Company in 1994. She was also a lifelong member of the German American Club of Albany, NY and attended many functions there. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who referred to her as Oma.

She is survived by her son, Frank Becker and daughter, Karin Becker, grandsons, Mark (Tanya) and Thomas (Nicole) Becker, 6 great grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Dillan, Shawn, Nathan and Andrew Becker. She is also survived by her sister, Margot Kehl of Fulda, Germany, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Monday, February 19, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held for Hildegard the following day on Tuesday, February 20, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial at Our Lady of Angels will take place after the service.
