Henry Joseph Kleindienst, 68, of Niskayuna, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Born on August 23, 1949 in Dallas, Texas, Henry was the son of the late Henry W. and Grace (Scorzari) Kleindienst. Henry grew up in Kings Park, New York, where he attended St. Joseph's School and Kings Park Senior High School.
He was a graduate of State University of New York at Albany, where he earned a BA in Political Science. He also studied at Niagara University and State University of New York at New Paltz. Henry held a variety of jobs throughout his life, including as a legislative assistant in the New York State Legislature, New York State Board of Elections, and the New York Racing Association. For many years, Henry was an active volunteer fundraiser and served for a time on the Board of Directors with the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Henry was the top fundraiser for several years with Cystic Fibrosis.
Henry enjoyed cooking, swimming, bicycle riding, visiting art museums, listening to his favorite music, and traveling. He was well known for finding the best bargains and laughing at his own jokes, as well as planning elaborate dinners for extended family.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Kleindienst (Tyler Chamberlin), his ex-wife Stephanie Garrity Kleindienst, brothers Joseph (Christine) and William Kleindienst (Kathy), nieces Kara (Kate Gilman) and Diane Kleindienst, and nephews William (Steven Ortego), Michael, and Joseph Kleindienst. Henry is also survived by his aunts Ninfa States and Dee Scorzari and cousins Chris States (Germaine Russo), Jon States (Cas), Anne Marie Abeltin (John), Jeff States (Lisa Gentile), Josh States (Liz), and Bill Scorzari (Stacy).
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 am directly at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 2216 Rosa Rd., Schenectady, followed by a procession to Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, Schenectady.
