Henry "Hank" Cassidy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry "Hank" Cassidy, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 12, 2026, at the age of 73.

Born on October 13, 1952, in Schenectady, New York, Hank was the son of the late Jack and Betty Cassidy.

Hank graduated from Bishop Gibbons High School in 1970 before attending Bentley College, where he earned his degree in 1974. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the New York State Department of Health before retiring in 2007.

Above all else, Hank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, coaching and rooting for his favorite teams, but most of all treasured the time he spent with family. Family vacations held a special place in his heart, providing countless unforgettable memories that will be cherished for generations. Those who knew him will remember his incredible sense of humor, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

His favorite role in life was being "Grumpy" to his four grandchildren. He loved to cheer them on, whether at sporting events, performances, or any other activities that brought them joy. The love and pride he had for them were evident to all who knew him.

Hank is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Kathy ("Kate") Cassidy; his son, John (Gretchen) Cassidy; his daughter, Mary Beth Hall; his four cherished grandchildren, Jack, Camryn, Clara, and Jordyn; along with extended family members and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved granddog, Rocky.

Services will be held on Friday, August 21 from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his life.

We would like to share a message of deep appreciation to his Hospice care team: Erin, Andrea and Che for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Community Hospice Foundation in his memory.

Hank will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love, guidance, laughter, and strength he shared with those around him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he so dearly loved.
