NISKAYUNA-Henry Fisher Jones, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2015. He was 94 years old when he died of natural causes.
Henry, the son of the late Henry F. Jones, Sr. and Francis Rice, was born on February 16th, 1921 outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He was one of four children, with two brothers and one sister. Henry proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from Carnegie Tech with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and then went on to pursue a Master's degree at Columbia University. He married Gladys Rose Stross in March of 1950 and started a family of his own with three children and three grandchildren who adored him. He worked as an aeronautical engineer for MTI for many years before "retiring," however he remained a valuable consultant for the company until 80 years of age. He was an incredibly caring and intelligent individual. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren many skills, including golf, his favorite pastime. He loved his wife of 65 years, Gladys, and enjoyed travelling with her and spending time with family.
Henry is survived by his three children Jeffry, Russell and Nancy Jones, and his three grandchildren Dyllon Jones, Dr. Brittany Simone and Shannan Costello. Henry was a beloved father and grandfather, who dedicated his life to his family and was very proud of all of their accomplishments.
Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church. His memory will live on through his family.
