Harold E. Gabree Jr., of Guilderland, New York, passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2026. He was born in Schenectady in 1946, the son of the late Harold and Doris Gabree.
Harold was a graduate of Linton High School and went on to become a licensed electrician, a trade he took great pride in throughout his life. He had a lifelong love of technology and curiosity about how things worked. He owned one of the first home computers and faithfully kept up with the latest technological advances ever since, always eager to learn something new.
He dedicated thirty years of service to Golub Corporation before continuing his career at Home Depot, where he worked in the electrical department beginning in 2007. Harold became a familiar and trusted presence there, known for his knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to help others.
Harold was deeply proud of his military service. He joined the Naval Reserve as soon as he became eligible, on his seventeenth birthday, and was later called to active duty during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Hopewell and remained proud of his service throughout his life. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion.
Outside of work, Harold found joy on Sacandaga Lake, where he loved boating, and in taking long scenic drives with his wife, appreciating the quiet beauty of the road and time spent together.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Betty Gabree; his children, John Gabree, Debra Turner (James), Michelle Gabree-Huba (Dan), and Stacey Rorick (Tom); and his ten adored grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Damiano.
