COLONIE- Gwendolyn Mitchell, 90 passed away on Tuesday, July 03, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Gwen was born in Catskill, NY, on October 04, 1927 to the late Frank and Minnie Strokes. On July 18, 1948 Gwen married the love of her life, William Edward Mitchell Jr. They were married for 27 years, and together raised two children. She was a loyal employee of the South Colonie School District for 30 years. Gwen will be remembered for her love of music, dancing, traveling, and gardening. Her passion in life was her family and her pets.
Gwen is predeceased by her husband, Bill E. Mitchell Jr., and her six siblings.
She is survived by her loving children, Deborah (Richard) Farrigan, and Chip (Jane) Mitchell, her grandchildren, Paul (Pam) Farrigan, Wendy (Matthew) Press, Sarah (Rocco) Panetta, Davey Mitchell, her six great-grandchildren, her sister, Marilyn (Jack) Herrewyn, her loyal cat, Gabby, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Sunday (7/8/18), from 2-5pm, with a service to immediately follow.
