Guenter J. Betzwieser

Slingerlands, N.Y.----Guenter J. Betzwieser, 82, passed away, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Shaker Place Nursing Center in Colonie, N.Y.

Guenter was born in Hochhausen, Germany, on September 7, 1942. He immigrated to this country, with his parents and siblings, at the age of 12.

He graduated from the former Our Lady of Angels Grade School and Christian Brothers Academy.

He is survived by his sisters: Eleonore Betzwieser and Beate Eates ( Frank) and his brother, Hugo Betzwieser ( Linda); his nieces: Tanya Betzwieser, Alicia Mein, Stephanie Sanders (Andrew); nephews: Richard Betzwieser (Yevette), Eric Betzwieser (Michele) and Steven Betzwieser.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alois Betzwieser and Ottilie Betzwieser; his brother, Herbert Betzwieser and sister-in-law, Mildred Betzwieser.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Shaker Place for the care they provided to Guenter. A special thanks to Margaret who was always able to make him smile.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 5 -7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ the King, 20 Sumter Ave., Albany, NY 12203. Interment immediately following at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
