LATHAM - Gregory J. Harris, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, after a brief illness.
Greg was born on June 17, 1947 in Troy and was the son of the late Harry P. and Anna (Szabiet) Harris. Greg attended Syracuse University and enlisted in the US Navy from 1969 to 1973, serving on the USS Forrestal as a Youman. After his service to our country, Greg went on to graduate from SUNY Albany. He was a Quality Control Lab Technician for GE Silicones/Momentive in Waterford for 33 years before retiring in 2009. He was an avid Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Steelers and Syracuse University basketball fan. In his younger days he enjoyed playing softball, fishing, golfing and partying with his friends.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Ann E. (Nash) Harris; his loving daughter, Ashley F. (Jeffrey) Eaton of Liverpool, NY; his sister, Nita Harris (George) Siciliano of West Chester, PA; his mother-in-law, Frances Lemieur; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary and Linda Austin and Mike and Kathy Nash and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. Calling hours will precede the service from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watervliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 310 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Greg.
