Gregory A. Fanuele

SCHENECTADY – Gregory A. Fanuele, 61, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born in Albany on November 27, 1964, Greg was the son of the late Frank J. and Patricia P. (Hill) Fanuele.

Greg dedicated more than thirty-seven years of service to the New York State Department of Mental Health before retiring in 2019.

While his work was meaningful and important, what truly defined Greg was the impact he had on the people around him. He was the person family and friends turned to for help, guidance, and reassurance. Whether solving a technical problem, offering emotional support, or helping improve a process, Greg was always willing to lend his knowledge, patience, and kindness. He was the family’s technical guru, a dependable source of wisdom and support, and someone who meant so much to so many. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Among Greg’s greatest passions were cooking and baking, which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. He was also a devoted animal lover whose compassion extended to every creature he encountered.

Gregory will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Diane Fanuele (Lou Moldenhouer), Jeffrey Fanuele, and Mark (Michele) Fanuele; his nephew and godchild, Ryan Fanuele; his niece, Kayla Fanuele (Mike Sposito); his aunt, Jacqueline Hill; as well as several cousins; dear friends, Donna and Bill Miller and his loving cats, Hunter, Remi and Kaia.

He will be remembered for his generosity, intelligence, humor, and the countless ways he made life easier and brighter for those around him.

Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens.
