Gladys M. Dorcely St. Louis, age 82, died peacefully in her sleep on February 11, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany, NY.

Gladys was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She was the beloved daughter of the late Muracia Sainvil and Pierre Voyant Dorcely. In the 1960s, she immigrated to the United States, where she soon met and married the love of her life, Lys A. St. Louis Sr., beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 47 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work, raising three children who were the pride and joy of her life.

Gladys made her home in Brooklyn, Montreal, and ultimately Plattsburgh, which became her final and cherished home. She began her career in New York’s fashion industry as a pattern maker and worked in quality control, demonstrating remarkable skill and dedication. Later, she was employed at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and also worked as a cafeteria attendant, where she was known for her warmth and kindness.

A woman of many talents, Gladys found joy in cake making and decorating, macramé, embroidery, and gardening. Her creativity and loving attention were reflected in everything she made and nurtured. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church and St. Peter’s Holy Cross Parish in Plattsburgh, NY. She was also a dedicated member of the St. Peter’s Rosary Club, where her faith and fellowship were central parts of her life.

She is survived by her loving children: her daughter Jude and her husband Keith of Delmar, NY; her son Lys Jr. and his wife Erin of Slingerlands, NY; and her daughter Martine and her husband Sanj of Northridge, CA. She was the adored grandmother of Zachary Klein, Alexander St. Louis, Mason Parekh, and Jayan Parekh, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Gladys will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle strength, her creativity, and above all, her deep and abiding love for her family. Her legacy of devotion, resilience, and grace will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 20th from 4-7PM at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl, Delmar, NY 12054.
