Rexford- George V. Ross, 91, of Rexford, NY, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2017.
Born in Albany on September 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Mildred VanLiew Ross Call and Edward Ross, stepson of James Call. George was predeceased by a brother, Edward Ross Jr.; a sister, Mildred P. Murphy.
The loving husband of Jane M. (Dyer) Ross; devoted father of Holly G. Pollard, Linda A. (Edward) Landers, Daniel G. Ross and Mary Faith (Ross) MacGilfrey; loving grandfather to Paul Pollard (Suzanne), Scott Landers (Nicole), Christina Landers, Kyle Landers, Christopher Berben, Julie Koch (Jeff), Alicia Matthews (William), Melissa Matthews, Kayla MacGilfrey, Kenneth MacGilfrey and Steven and Daniel Barringer. George is survived by 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Once a Marine always a Marine, George was a lifetime member of the WM. Dale O'Brien Detachment of the Marine Corps League. A World War II survivor of Guam & Iwo Jima, he served with the 3rd. division, 9th. Regiment Marines K Company from 1943 to 1945; having enlisted at the age of 17. George lived most of his life in the Albany area; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He retired from Crowley Dairy in 1995.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park. Interment will be at 12:30pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
