Albany- It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of George Perment III on March 24, 2026, following a long illness with lung disease at St. Peter’s Hospital.
George was a devoted father, loving partner, mentor, and friend. He had a gift for connecting with people—he could make a friend anywhere, even in the most unexpected places, simply because of his warm and outgoing personality. Known for his honesty and sense of humor, George was a true jokester who brought laughter and light to those around him.
Above all, George was a family man. He deeply loved his family and held a special place in his heart for the Johnson family, who embraced him as one of their own after the passing of his mother.
George was born on July 17, 1962, at Harlem Hospital in New York. At the age of nine, he moved to Florence, South Carolina, where he was raised and educated. He attended Florence Junior High School and graduated from South Florence High School. He later pursued his passion by attending culinary arts school.
At the age of 21, George returned to New York, where he lived the rest of his life and raised his family.
George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him
George was preceded in death by,His daughter, Tiera Perment; his sister, Georgia Perment; his brothers, Robert Allen and Victor Johnson; and his parents, Edna Mae Phillips and George Perment II.
George leaves to cherish his memory,His daughter, Tamia Perment; his son, George Perment IV; and his devoted partner of over 30 years, Latosha Harrington. His sister, Gwen Adams; his brother, Warren Johnson; Yurina Johnson; Sandy Johnson; Lashanda Harrington; his nephew, Troy Perment; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including Blay.
