Niskayuna- George Herron passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 28, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. He was 88 years old.
The son of the late George and Lily (Sloane) Herron he was born on September 28, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio. He retired after 38 years with Verizon in 1988. George was an avid history buff, with a special love for anything WWII related.
George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Muriel (Gellrich) Herron; his children: Keith (Linda) Herron, Pamela (Douglas) Hoeffner and Jeffrey (Cynthia) Herron; his grandchildren: Kimberly (Joseph) Minetello, Jeffrey Herron, Diane Hoeffner, Stephanie (Richard) Valenia and Matthew Hoeffner; two great-grandchildren: Lydia Longton and Richard Valenia.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, October 8 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Burial will be held at a later date on Staten Island.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in George's name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Albany, NY 12204.
