George M. Bradt III, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family. He was born on April 3, 1933, in Albany to the late George M. Bradt II and Mae Bradt.
He proudly served in the US Marines, earning the title of Major. George was the director of Internal Audit New York State Teachers Retirement System until his retirement.
In his personal life, George was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in his passions for fishing and traveling, particularly at his summer home on Lake Champlain or his winter home in Naples Fl, places where countless memories were made with family and friends. He was strong and determined, once he set his mind to something it was getting done.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 74 years, Virginia, son George M. Bradt iv, and grandson Zachary Warner.
He leaves behind his daughters, Deidre Chalkowski, Judy Ann Bradt, Susan Welsh (Thomas), Wendy Warner (Scott), Pamela Donovan, grandchildren Kayleigh A. Chalkowski, Eric, Evan and Ethan Bradt, Jason Welsh, Jayme and Stephanie Warner, Jessica Donovan, Christina Parkes (Rob), William Donovan (Jackie), Dustin Donovan, as well as 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.
His family invites friends to join them for a visitation on May 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in Colonie, New York.
