COLONIE- George L. Benoit, 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
George was born in Albany, NY to the late Henry and Florence Benoit on March 6, 1939. George served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 3, 1959 he married the love of his life, Joan. They were married for 58 years, and together they raised four children. George worked as a meat cutter for over 30 years, and in 1993 he retired from Price Chopper in Albany, NY.
George is predeceased by his siblings, Robert, Richard, Thomas, Hank, and Roberta.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, his children, Bonnie (Richard) Anson, John (Melissa) Benoit, George (Lynn) Benoit Sr., and Kevin (Yeshica) Benoit Sr., his close niece, Barbara Geer, his 11 grandchildren, Christina, Jessie, Richard, Jennifer, Neely, Gracie, George Jr., Kevin Jr., Keirshtian, Savanna, and Skyler, his ten great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Christ our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211, at 10:00am. Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George's name to the Zaloga Post 1520, 4 Everett Rd Ext, Albany, NY 12205
