Gary was raised and educated in Ticonderoga, NY, and moved to the Capital District at 18 years old to pursue training in mechanics in 1962.
Gary could always be found around an engine or in the great outdoors enjoying nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent much time in the Adirondacks, a place of beauty, pleasure and solace to him. At home, he spent countless hours in the garage helping others to repair cars and small engines. He was a highly regarded friend and colleague to many and shared his passions with all who wanted to learn, be it engines, history, hunting, tugboats or his beloved Adirondacks. His spirit will forever soar in the mountains. Gary will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his first wife, Judy, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage; grandson, Scott Jr.; sister, Linda Quaresimo.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Joanne Elliott; children, Michael (Jennifer), Scott, (Wendy), and Matthew (Melanie); grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob (Samantha), Marissa, Bianca and Sophia; sister, Kim Elliott; his buddy, Dave Beecroft; and Joanne's wonderful family, John (the late Denise), Michael (Joanne), Kathy, Kevin (Shanna), and Lilly.
